Love Love's Birthday Short Trip

2D1N to Port Dickson Avillion

On my Birthday, we went to Krabi.. Therefore, I was hoping that love can enjoy himself going on a trip too. Who knows.... The day before the trip was disastrous ! I bought the cheap deal of $118/pax for 2D1N stay with coach transfers on deals.com.sg. The travel agent selling is was GEL travel and we had our worse experience ever with an agency. I shall not go into details on what happen, but just imagine, the day before your trip, you do not know who is picking you up, where to take the pickup, how to get home. Scary enough? Love had to storm down to the agency at Smith Street to look for the boss. We also consulted some travel trade friends and to find out that, it is not very wise to buy packages from GEL anymore.

The only good thing is, the boss of GEL travel knows how to calm your nerves. He gave us the itinerary of tour ONLY UPON door knock. If you dont storm into his office, basically, you might end up missing the coach and pay more to board a taxi to the resort.. Contriubuting to Malaysia's economy.

Here is how it goes:

0830am : Coach pickup at West Coast Plaza
(the coach only arrives at 0930am. Best of all, the driver does not know how to get to tuas checkpoint)

1100pm : Coach reaches JB stop for a 20mins rest

0100pm : Coach reaches Malacca
(Whats next? Its our first time in malacca and there were no instructions given by the driver. We fumbled and remembered counter 6 at malacca centre is their coach counter, so we make our way to the counter. Dont know what to expect. Luckily we were right ! The resort pickup guy is there waiting for us)

0200pm : Mini Van depart to Avillion Port Dickson

0330pm : Finally ! Reached the Resort with a BIG RELIEF. Was feeling all tired and unwell from the jerky road trip in the super old minivan.

1818, City Express Coach Number to Malacca

We were sleepy but still excited about the journey at this POINT of time.

This is the mini van that fetched us from Malacca to Resort.

We are already extremely tired and disppointed seeing this van, faulty aircondition, torn seats and sunken cushions. I wonder how did the pregnant lady manage (we have one traveling with us).

I love the branding and we love the resort to the MAX.
However, we are still feeling very lethargic.
The traveling on bus had given us bloated stomach and bus sickness i guess.

Hoho. Each block of Garden Chalet comprises of 4 units, 2 storeys.

Great that we gotten the ground level #216 !
I dont like to climb stairs. And the ground level chalets looks more pleasant. Those on the 2nd storey had a different exterior aesthetic, like built of wood, dont like.

Love the BED !

Another day bed by window, good for a third sharer.

TV channels in the room are rather boring and the cable reception was not very good. Most of the time, we failed to tune to the one and only Malaysian chinese channel.

Like love said, a walk-in bathroom which you can roll about, all you want.

Squeezy standing shower though.

A separate toilet cubicle.

We bought Macdonalds at Malacca bus terminal. Decided to have it on the day bed and watching tv at the same time.. Our burgers and fries had gone diluted. And our drinks? you should know.

But when you are hungry, anything is nice to have.

After a few hours of slacking in bed, Love finally sounded, "Lets go out and explore".

I replied, "OK !" (actually, I meant "huh, can we rest another hour..")

I was so dead tired.

I offically declare, I dislike Coach trips.

OKay, as you can see, how the water chalet looks like on stilts. You have to pay more for that, and I personally think it is not worth the money. Garden Chalets looks nicer.. hehe.

Water activities.

I dont mind trying them the next time I visit again.

The resort has 2 private beaches.

This is Raui Beach. And you see, they had tentage for private dinners arrangements.

- Bridal Shop

- Art gallery

- Kids corner

- Function rooms

- Business Centre

The Jacuzzis are redundant, so dont bother ! They are more like water pouting points.

This is where we will head to first thing in the morning!

In the pool vicinity, you will spot the gym and recreational room.

Recreational activites here are expensive. A Price which you will expect in Singapore!

They have little resting, dreaming and pondering points for the 'authors' they called it.

Our first dinner in Crow's Nest Restaurant.

Highly Recommendated: (1) Nasi Kampung (2) Steamed Cod Fish

Food is good I must say.. Price wise, is like Sg restaurant.

Main courses ranging from SGD$16++ to $25++

The rabbits you will get to see in their mini habitat.

Daily feeding at 10am where guest are welcome to join in the fun.

Rabbits, Turtle, Peacock, Rooster.

This is the other end of the resort with a small private beach named Tumasek.

The sky was rather cloudy and grey on the day we arrive.

This is the best shot I get in the evening with a much prettier tone.

Avi Spa House

Facilities are members only access.

However, if you sign up for services here, i believe you can access them too.

The prettiest place in Avillion.

Not to be missed! I will try it next time.

I am afraid of animals.

The Morning Breakfast was acceptable. Not fantastic.

I have not told you that the resort has a 3rd pool - the adult pool !

Guess our visit on a Thursday was off peak season, we hardly see anybody swims.

Craving for icecream? You might have to hold on to that urge.

Their mini potong stick cost me $4.60 ringgit.

Check out ! Feeling heavy hearted even though the front desk had given us a late check out at 1:30pm.

I wish we can be back here again soon !

This arent the best trip we had, because I Krabi is still unbelieveably amazing. I wish you enjoyed yourself in the resort. Sorry, I did not hug you to sleep that night cause I knocked out before you. Well, but I fell asleep in your arms on the next day and had a short nap =D Lets go on a short trip twice a year or a long trip once a year ! Hee !

Since I dare not drive, I had to revealed the dinner venue upon boarding his car.

Decided to head for the Toa Payoh branch, believing that there will be lesser crowd as compared to the Ang Mo Kio one.. True enough, we reached at 6:45pm and managed to get seats right away. The coffeeshop was later full at about 7:30pm.

New Job 2012

HELLO ! How are you my blog?

Its 2012 and I Love it so far !

Tidied up my room.

Started my new job with new responsibilities.

A step nearer to my dream.

A whole new better life this year, I am sure.

I realise when Love is out of my reach (logistically), my tears could roll anytime. He is my happiness and he is the reason why I want to live on. This year doesnt seem to be a good one for love.. Perhaps I had lured away his good luck? Hope this new year will be a good year for him too !

Work wise, I see a very clear structure on the things they do at my new workplace in just 3 Days ! There are past reports and pictures for me to view. This shows that the company is very well organised and there should be less stress for me. No more messed up and sleepless nights. Time to save $$ and clear my $2k debt to dad!

Thank you for accompanying me love. Thank you for the past years of tolerance and help. Thank you for fetching me home from work almost everyday and pick me up from random places all the time. Thank you for joining me and my frenz for dinner dates, even though they are all strangers to you. YOU DID WELL ! I think I can never adapt things like you do. I only wish to be the lady there for you and to take care of our future home and family. MY ambition is to be Ang Wenjie's Laopo ! HAHA. I am looking forward to our BIG dream this year... The dream which will bring me a step closer to my ultimate AIM in life.

Love departed for Bali company retreat, 3D2N. I survived Day One ! 1.5 more days to go. Thinking and keeping you in mind only makes my tears roll. I shall distract myself with work and other stuff. Never thought that it would be so tough. I think, it is the first time i experience such loneliness. Next time, if you are going overseas again, you have to bring me along whenever you can okay! Laogong, Im loving you more and more each day. Looking at your adorable face makes me want to pinch and hug you.

Facebook is shutting down !

Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will be shut down in March of 2012. Managing the site has become too stressful.

“Facebook has gotten out of control,” said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”

Zuckerberg went on to explain that starting March 15th of next year, users will no longer be able to access their Facebook accounts. That gives users (and Facebook addicts) a year to adjust to life without Facebook.

“After March 15th, 2012 the whole website shuts down,” said Avrat Humarthi, Vice President of Technical Affairs at Facebook. “So if you ever want to see your pictures again, I recommend you take them off the internet. You won’t be able to get them back after Facebook goes out of business.”

Zuckerberg said the decision to shut down Facebook was difficult, but that he does not think people will be upset.

“I personally don’t think it’s a big deal,” he said in a private phone interview. “And to be honest, I think it’s for the better. Without Facebook, people will have to go outside and make real friends. That’s always a good thing.”

Some Facebook users were furious upon hearing the shocking news.

“What am I going to do without Facebook?” said Denise Bradshaw, a high school student from Indiana. “My life revolves around it. I’m on Facebook at least 10 hours a day. Now what am I going to do with all that free time?”

However, parents across the country have been experiencing a long anticipated sense of relief.

“I’m glad the Facebook nightmare is over,” said Jon Guttari, a single parent from Detroit. “Now my teenager’s face won’t be glued to a computer screen all day. Maybe I can even have a conversation with her.”

It was a day where I had cravings for steamboat, and I thought, "GREAT ! Its time to use my $10 Groupon Coupon!".It was a MJK Korean BBQ Coupon $10/pax which I bought a few months back. Darn Cheap ! So love and I made our way to the ulu place, joo chiat and check it out... Since the shop always fails to pick up calls for reservations ! Upon reaching, to what we did suspect... The shop no longer exists.

Oh well~

Not to waste our trip there, we decided to do a short walk and see if we catches any new eats. 10minutes walk and we found nothing worth nor enticing. Just when we are about to turn our backs.. I Saw This.

A Cake Shop!

A typical one where owner does baking and works in it.. Not really a cafe/eatery.

Yes. I want to eat cake.

and here we landed ourselves staring into the fridge filled with decent selections of cakes.

When I was ordering the cake, I requested to dine in the shop since i saw a small empty table laid with dreamy white table cloth. It naturally came to me that its for dining. Then the owner was surprised and responded, "OKay~", and she went missing for awhile. Later to realise that she had to search and wash the culteries for us.. OPps ! Dumb enough, I realise that the table is not for dining but rather for customers who would like to discuss about their cake orders, etc..

She is sweet enough to host us, even running in and out to get us the service bell and tissue box. Hee...

I see that she is busy with her cake orders!

Very simple set up. Christmasy too.

When he decided to run the Standard Chartered Marathon...

I had troubles sleeping on the day of his run and was so worried that he failed to get enough rest/sleep before the run. The run starts at 5am and I was wondering if he will be feeling cold and hungry. Even worried about the crazy stormy weather lately. Constantly waking up several times in the night, praying that he will reach the finishing line in ONE PIECE.

I also make sure I wake up before his run and give him a BIG HUG!

Till today, the words he said touches me, still, so deeply in my heart.

I know he will fulfil what he promises.

He finished the 42km despite the previous injury of his knee.

Have been very demoralised and depressed, the negative vibes had stopped me from blogging.

Current job will be ending at the end of 2011 !

I am happy.

I am happy that I do not have to work my ass off, while the others get paid.

I am looking forward to a new working environment, to brush up my skills and be led by new mentors.

Life now is monotonous and making my body feels like a 80 year old granny.

I enjoyed helping friends and worthy colleagues at work. More than willing to do it even if it gives me heart attack all the time. But, the situation I am in now ? Not worth it.

Well, hope my interview goes well tomorrow =)

Seems like my Birthday celebration always last for a month.
I felt blessed.

The early birds spent our time watching teebee and playing cards.
Guess we are all too tired and lazy this year.
We know that resting and recuperating time are so precious now that we are so hectic at work.

Oh Well, We failed. hee.

All waiting for THIS MOMENT.
We decided to have it at our convenience this year, less hassle, more fun.
Therefore, ordered the food from BBQwholesale. For a total of 7pax, I would say we spent around $150 for everything.. However, our drinks were bought separately from NTUC, as BBQwholesale do not sell bottles but canned.

Love love, our only MAN, starting the fire at 5ish.
Sun was pretty scorching still, but great timing to prevent any growling stomach.

The girls joining in the fun now that the fire is done. CHICKEN WINGS ~!

I must say that the sambal sotong and sambal stingray are good. The rest are so so..

Ps: The guy at our BBQ pit behind is our neighbour borrowing our well burnt charcoal. Hehe

Krabi La Playa Resort

Deluxe room

Love and I secured the online deal at $350/pax for a 4D3N Resort Stay with Daily Breakfast, 1 complimentary dinner, Tiger airways return tickets, airport transfers, half day city tour.

The resort is equipped with free WIFI at their lobby and poolside. Password has to be obtained from the front desk. They have very friendly staff and nice clean resort ! I think it is quite a norm to have huge spacious room in Krabi resorts.

Lets Sea: Lets Relax Massage Palour.

I found this palour on a online review and decided to give it a try. If you were to get the complimentary krabi map from the airport, you will see the palour stated on the map, very convenient to locate.. After all Ao Nang is a small piece of touristic land.

Verrdict: Very good service with very affordable price !

Traditional Thai Massage 300 baht.

Sad to know, if you were to stay on Krabi mainland, you will never get to see this clear water. One has to travel to the nearby islands like the Four Islands, Phi Phi Island or Hong Island to enjoy this heavenly waters.

If you dont, then, you have never been to krabi !

We signed up for the Phi Phi Island tour.
1st stop was the Bamboo island, Terrific shore for swim and tan.

May Beach.

Too crowded here, not advisable to visit if you are on free & easy.

Last Year this month, I was busy with DnD events, quarelling with ex-bf, daddy was suspected with tumor, learning boating... It was a crazy time last year.

This year, is a happening year !
I completed and endured through many tedious and torturous event, I had my first overseas business trip to Batam and Beijing, pass my boating license.. and Most importantly, I found ANG WEN JIE!

In another 5 days' time, my life is going to change again. I am going to PASS my driving 3A license !
Cant wait ! Wish me luck !

I am proud to present my ppcdl license !

It feels good to conquer something which I thought is impossible. I guess the next steps from here is to earn more money... So I can afford a Marina membership. Therefore, hire boat and out onto the sea !

For those who are going to take the practicals, important advise for you:

1) Take 1-2 refresher courses at RSYC, preferably a week before test date.

2) A good instructor DOES matter. I took my lessons at MCC and I must say Captain Zul is really GOOD!

3) Memorise the mandatory theories found on your notes for practical test.

4) Lights of boats are VERY IMPT.

5) Lastly, abide to the rules - proper attire and bring along the necessary documents.

The movie was okay... Well, any movie that does not make me fall asleep is good movie. HEH~!

Getting geared up with the proper covered shoes as to prevent injuries while stepping on the seabed full of rubbies. I am busying spraying myself with mosquito repellent.

During the course, we were asked to raft up at each junction..
Making sure that we are aware of what we will expect to see in the nature and the characteristics of the different mangroves and water.

Here, at our last site.. We were told to STAND UP!

I freaked out.. Cause I remember falling into the waters during Sec2 camp and had to be rescued by a power boat to shores...

Okay lah, I DID IT !

You know why?

The kayak is really very sturdy and not the simple ones we usually see outside. This is the real sea kayaks which does not capsized easily.

Cool...

CC and myself were later told to exchange kayaks. WTF.

I was lucky I made it too.

That is really challenging !

WE DID IT !

Passed our PPCDL on 27 August 2011,

despite the heavy pour and nervous attacks !

We are all looking forward to our very first boat trip next year... Shawn said its better, for this end year is monsoon season already.

I did the man over-board well but short berthing when asked to berth my boat.

Well, at least it was not banging the jetty, else I would have flunked.

Oral test was all easy, except for the lights and shapes recognition which I refused to memorise.

True enough, they are being tested and I was unable to answer.

He told me to proceed outside to look through my notes and be back into the test room again.

Tough. But I made it.

All three of us passed it on our first practicals!

Today is just my lucky day.

I realise the bad and dreadful week of August, isnt as bad.
It all started with, "I dont want to close my eyes... Because tomorrow will be Monday!"

Monday begins... Black black black.
Manager meeting which I am asked to attend. FINE
After meeting... OKAaaaaay...~

and then, it was busy busy busy everyday. I could not breathe and time flies and I have to rush to driving lessons, meetings, last minute adhoc errands. bla bla bla.
I realise, things arent so bad after all.

I know why.
I finally figured out.

Its is the words : CONNECTION and INTERACTION.
Its been ages since i last talk to my boss.
Now that my managers have all left, there is no guidance anymore.
All I needed was just care and concern. To assure that my boss still cares about this business.
Initially, I really do not know who am I fighting this war for.
For now, I know, I am still capable of doing little things to knead the gaps of the organisation.

It is no good to be in a self contained world. Yes, Switzerland did well in that, but it added some disadvantages too.

Well, at least i found the reason and a little motivation to keep me moving on till next year.
How bad can things be? I believe, it all can be ironed out eventually. Its just the matter of time.

Let it flow. Did my best and I deserve whatever outcome it is. I am Happy.

We did a review check on the hotel. Cant help it. Frequent traveler like me would want to set my expectation right. I do not wish to get a shock when the reality hits me.

As per webby, the rooms are HUGE, very satisfied.

Our room is clean but love's colleague had theirs - sandy floor and a dirty bathtub.

There were no towels when we entered the room. We requested for towels and they were dirty and unacceptable. Oh well, expected as we read it on tripadvisor already. Luckily we brought our own towels. HAHA!

Love was infected on his feet and cant get in contact with water nor sand. He has to give a miss to the teambuilding games.

Was fascinated by the fireflies in the mangrove swamps initially.

Then it became an agony.. pain and despair.

We were attacked by countless mosquitos in the dark and the sting was so painful!

Paid RM40/pax and came back with 20over battle marks... WTF

Thats it, once in a lifetime.

That night, we both felt asleep with the lights on - KO.

I have to wake up in the middle of the night looking up and down for the switches to turn the lights off.

I had a delicious plate of beef, only to realise my stomach failed to digest it.

I got sick the next morning and was in bed the entire day in Seattle.

Did a 1 night retreat in the hotel with love love.

Moon Hotel located in the little india premise.

When you have no budget and time to get overseas, move to a hotel !

Not placing high expectations on the morning breakfast as it is a small setup.

We were wrong !

Breakfast was pretty sufficient.

You get the usual toast, sausages, egg, ham, salad, pastries and cereals.

Very friendly people in the hotel.

Just one thing to note, bring a jacket ! The air condition is chilling =)

Its like going on a day trip; a getaway with love after my exhuasting event in Beijing.

First time traveling on Sentosa Green Tram & Monorail with love.

The tram operator is cute. He is a boring sleepy uncle with a ironically bubbly radio commentator.

So, after the car ride, tram ride, monorail ride, foot walks, WE've REACHED !

We are going to watch the Water Show. God knows what it is until we get a taste of it.

No pictures of the actions were taken as the performers are splashing water at the audiences.
We sat the wet zone and I really got real wet.
Basically it is a mock up act of a dam invasion with LOTS of water splashing and TNT explosions.
I was nailing my eyes on the hott caucasian babe performer the whole time during the show.

Oh yea, they actually splash water by wiping the jetski. *COOL

ever seen jetski like a submarine?

There were 3 show time slots that day.

You can actually visit any souvenir shops, they have got the show timetable for the day, printed and placed at their cashier rack.

We took this ride to get our blood boiling and heart pumping before the final battle !

Back in one piece !

Touched down Singapore on Friday, 27May 1030pm..

Flight was full of turbulence but I am all safe.

It was a Good 2 weeks Hell in Beijing !

Given a photography manic like me, was brought down to the state where I do not want to capture all these moments in my life. They are better not existed.

Managing an event overseas is really NOT FUN at all.

Florence, Chern Chieh, Samantha, Genevieve and myself.

The girls team.. Had barely 4 hours of sleep straight for the 2weeks and our body really struggled through the cold weather and mental tortures.

Language was a challenge: We do not speak the same term as the Beijingers

Venue was a nitemare: We had to manage 2 separate hotels which are 12mins walking apart

Delegate attending: We had to manage all 1000 people coming in from 18 different countries

We are really glad that it is all OVER! Beautiful ending. Happy Faces.

If you are wondering where.. It is the T3 Airport Hotel... $46++ per pax for dinner.
They serve Haagen Dazs Icecream and theres Rocher, Green Tea and Macadamia nut.

I must say I fell in love with Macadamia Nut flavour !!

2) You are exhausted, but you still cannot sleep properly at all... and you spend night after night thinking about the thing you're trying not to think about. (I can still sleep la.. Sleeping is the antidote)

3) You choose to go out everyday and do all sorts of random things, or work your butt off, even if you don't want to, just to tire and distract yourself from thinking about something... (l will prefer to chill than work. SHopping?)

And then please re-read number 2 again.

4) You are a big movie fan but.. Comedy movies just don't seem that funny anymore, romance movies make you depressed, action movies seem undramatic when compared to your own life and horror movies are more like comedies in the end. (dono about that)

5) You realize that the only person who can make you stop crying.. is the one who made you cry. (yup, it does happen)

6) Nothing is exactly wrong in your life... and still nothing seems quite right. (toTALLY)

7) When you have to resort to the internet as a way of releasing emotions.. e.g - create an emo blog post as an oh-so-subtle hint to everyone about how you're feeling. (Like what i am doing NOW)

8) You waste all your time waiting for something that won't happen.. You know it won't happen, you tell yourself not to bother about it, but when the time comes and you are proved right... you get depressed and disappointed over it anyways. (Cant help but my head is nodding)

9) You have to pretend that you are okay. Okay people don't pretend, when they are sad, they are sad.. Because they're not afraid. The ones who pretend to be the strongest are the ones who need help the most. (I guess i am always so...)

10) You smile and laugh in the day... But the tears still fall at night. (I do not want to re-live those days anymore.. please...)

And lastly, you know you are extremely super duper fucked when Number 1 - 10 happens to you, all at once.

I came across the Fascinating Shoe Facts on yahoo! and it is SO TRUE !

here it goes....

"Finally we've found some poll results that actually seem accurate! A new footwear survey from ShopSmart, a Consumer Reports publication, interviewed over 1,000 women and found that the average woman owns 17 pairs of shoes and spends around $49 per pair. Of those, only three pairs are in regular rotation. Sounds about right, doesn't it?"

Some shoe-crazed ladies right now are shaking their heads in disagreement. Well, you may not fall in the norm! 13 percent of women have over 30 pairs of shoes, not including sneakers. Feeling better now?

Here are some more cool stats from the survey:

• Women buy around three pairs of shoes each year

• 39% of women prefer flats more than any other shoe

• 33% have spent more than $100 on a pair of shoes

• only 25% have worn shoes that are 4″ or higher

• 46% have bought an ugly pair for comfort, while 60% endure pain for pretty shoes

• 61% have carried comfy shoes in their bag to change into

• 48% have had shoe-related injuries

• 19% shop to cheer themselves up

• 29% shop for shoes online

• 14% have hidden at least one purchase from their spouse

• 51% notice the shoes others are wearing

• 28% feel shoes make the outfit

So many women are obsessed with shoes. Lisa Lee Freeman, editor in chief of ShopSmart, explains why. "Shoes never make your butt look big, you don't have to worry about squeezing into them if you've put on a couple of pounds, and they can instantly make you feel sexier."
